My Landscape Photography bag setup:

BAG: Thinktank Street Walker Harddrive or PRO

CAMERAS : Canon 5D IV & coming soon FUJI GFX 50s

+ Canon EF 16-35mm F/4L IS              Very practical and very good and light Ultra wide angle zoom for situation where rapid
focal change or landscapes lens is needed. Sharper than the f2.8L II in corners. In my bag
                                                              all the time.

Canon EF 24-70mm f/4L IS               Great walk around and landscape lens, almost as sharp as the 2.8L II and sharper at

some apertures. Canon probably made a perfect lens with this one with the stabilizer.

And it is almost as sharp as the TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II  and some times sharper for

some areas in the frame.  In my bag all the time.

+ Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II      One of my workhorse in landscape photography for areas like Bryce Canyon or the

Tuscan landscapes. Very, very sharp and excellent for portrait and wildlife

My Wildlife Photography bag setup:

BAG: Thinktank Street Walker Harddrive

CAMERAS Canon 5D IV & waiting for the 7D III

+ Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II  Excellent lens for birds in flight or certain wildlife shot opportunities. This workhorse is sharp also with

the MK III versions of 1.4X & 2X extenders on a Pro camera like the 1D X. Used extensively.

+ Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II A new acquisition also for wildlife when I need a quick maneuverable lens in environments when there is

                                                                  sufficient light

+ Canon EF 200-400mm f/4L IS+1.4x  One of the best Super tele  I had ever used. Hyper Fast and Hyper sharp. It is also outstanding with

the internal 1.4X and with a second 1.4X on top(784mm). Very versatile with its variable focal.

+ Canon EF 1.4 X Extender III

+ Canon EF 2 X Extender III

My city bag setup:

BAG: Thinktank City Walker 10

+ Fujifilm XF 18-55 OIS  Great walk around lens, sharp

+ FUJIFILM XF 35mm f/2 WR Great walk around lens and great for scemes and portrait. Great bokeh

+ FUJIFILM XF 56mm f/2 R Great portrait lens and outdoor scene. Superb bokeh

Over time, my gear choice has evolved based on experience, on my needs, on accuracy, what the material can produce and also base on the practical fact that I cannot carry a full house on my back anymore...

Nevertheless, you will find photographs on this site using all sorts of gear, Nikon and Canon. Unfortunately, Sony lenses as good as the Canon L lenses are outrageously expensive which does not represent a good ROI.

Other stuff I use

  • Canon speedlite 600EX-RT
  • Canon OE-C3 Off Camera Shoe Cord 3  for wildlife photography (mostly when shooting birds)
  • Better Beamer Flash Extender  for wildlife photography (mostly when shooting birds, I use it a lot less than before)
  • Canon TC80N3 Multi function Remote **   for landscape photography
  • WD MY PASSPORT WIRELESS PRO II  Backup Units   Always with me on travel. (Replacing the Hyperdrives UDMA2)
  • HYPERJUICE100 : Powerful battery pack for Macbook Pro, iPads and iPhones

Tripods & Heads

  • Gitzo GT5542 LS Carbon Fiber           A new acquisition for videography and very windy locations (Iceland)
  • Gitzo GT3541LS Carbon Fiber **       Every situation/trip where I can bring it
  • Gitzo Carbon Fiber Monopod              For restricted areas
  • SIRUI N2204 Tripod                           For travel with weight and size restrictions
  • Markins M10 Ballhead                        For travel with weight and size restrictions or expedition requiring lighter gear
  • Really Right ARCA SWISS:                 Really Right Stuff knob clamp on a ARCA SWISS MONOBALL Z1 sp
  • Manfrotto 502AH Fluid head              For Videography
  • Wimberley Sidekick                            The travel alternative for wildlife with Super Tele 300mm f/2.8 to 600mm)
  • Sunwayfoto DYH-90i Leveling Base   Use for landscape photography under my ballhead  for panoramas.

My Too numerous bags ...

Allmost all ThinkTank (the lightest, so best for flights) :

  • ThinkTank StreetWalker HardDrive* All the time plus traveling in North America (roomy) With Thinktank Steroid Speed Belt
  • Thinktank Airport Antidote                For when I have to carry the 200-400mm with other gear, fits in a CRJ plane
  • ThinkTank StreetWalker PRO*          When traveling with weight and gear restriction (Europe).  With Thinktank Steroid Speed belt
  • Thinktank Urban Disguise 3, 4 & 5   (The 5 often for travelling as a second bag)
  • Thinktank CityWalker 10*                for small travelling or for my city kit
  • Nikon CL-L2 Soft Case bag                for carrying the Canon 200-400mm with a camera attached

Lenses choice change overtime depending on my needs. I have made a choice of lens for the present time that allows me to travel relatively light and get excellent quality shots for landscapes, birding and wildlife in general. My gear choice also reflects the fact that I cannot carry as much gear as I did when younger.

If need be, I will tend to rent lenses (especially the super tele) I do not own when I need a specific one for a special project.
